I am the author of the travel guides Soul Places Scotland and Soul Places Mallorca. More books are in the pipeline and there is always a next destination I want to write about. I’m interested in places with character, encounters that stay with you and the atmosphere between the lines.

The wild Highlands with their majestic mountains and lochs, mystical chapels, stone circles and churches that tell of rich history and culture, endless, windswept coastlines of rugged beauty, whisky distilleries and vibrant, creative metropolises: In each of these places you will find the Scottish soul with its diversity of nature, culture and history.

The remote Lluc monastery in the middle of the Tramuntana mountains, a patisserie in the center of the island that seems to have fallen out of time or the listed city wall of Alcúdia: all of these places are soul places where you can feel the soul of Mallorca. Every single one of them is worth a visit and has the potential to become a new favorite and place of longing.
